Conceptual Photography Response:
Gianna P. and Hannah C.
1. These images all have fantastic quality. The photo that really stuck out though, was the photo with the teddy bear. The focus is on the bear and the girl while the background is completely blurred out. Also there's a good exposure and contrast along with an extremely strong composition. Another wonderful photo out of these five is the one with the magic eight ball. The focus is clearly on the ball and the splash of water.
2. There are some photographic characteristics that are extremely prevalent in this photo. For example, the lighting in the photo fits the emotion and setting of this photograph. The lighting also works extremely well in the second photo with the faint lighting giving you a sense of motion along with the polaroids.
3. A conceptual characteristic that really stands out is the sense of loneliness. You see a child in rags staring, almost emotionlessly, at a teddy bear that has its head bowed. It gives you the sense that even the teddy bear, an object normally cherished that represents happiness and joy for many children, has given up on her. Loneliness appears to be a common theme as the fourth photo also appeals to this theme. The girl is lying on the ground with a pale. painted face as she has her hand placed over the area of the spot where the dead body was. A body, you can easily assume was of a loved one.
4. The two images we picked were the second one and the fourth one. The fourth one tells a story of a lost loved one and how the girl longs for them to be back with her as she lays at the exact spot where their dead corpse once lay. When we see the second one, what comes to mind is that the guy is being held at gunpoint, but the gun is the camera. When he's shot, instead of bleeding blood, he bleeds the creativity that runs through his mind.
